Amy Melvina Retrum, entered the gates of Heaven on January 27, 2014 to be with Jesus and her beloved husband and best friend, Russell. She was born September 12, 1927 in Stephenson, MI to the late Samuel and Amy (Barker) Bebo. Amy graduated from Daggett High School in 1945. She married Russell Warren Retrum at the Methodist Church of Menominee on May 24, 1947. She said her honeymoon was by far the best and happiest time of her life. Her life was her family, always being there; she was a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and always wearing a house dress. She and her family moved to California in 1955 and back home again in 1963. She loved camping in Wisconsin. When she was learning to cast a fishing pole, she wast told to 'let go' as she cast it , and so she did, the pole and reel went flying into the lake. So much for fishing. When her girls were in high school, she worked as a seamstress at Harmon Knitwear for 5 years and in the laundry at Northland Lutheran Services for 9 years, retiring in 1989. Always giving, she helped take care of her aging mother-in-law and many years of caring for her ailing husband. In 1994, she lost the love of her life, her husband Russell. She moved to Northland Village where she resided for 10 years. She belonged to First United Methodist Church of Menominee, which she said was like home. Her hobbies include sewing, reading, silk ribbon embroidery, card making, crossword puzzles, word games on her ipad and jigsaw puzzles with her Village friends. Survivors include her two daughters: Karen (Rienhart) Ries of Green Bay, WI and Diane (Steve) Pochron of Hobart, WI; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and a sister Harriet (David) Hyams of Corte Madera, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers and four sisters. Visitation and funeral services at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home of Marinette.
