Born 1786, Christian Brüggen (and his wife, Elisabeth Kronenberg, b.~1787, Baumberg, Prussia, d.02-Feb-1852, Prussia) were from the area near to Landkreis {country-side region} Köln {Cologne}, in Prussia. It is probable that they were from Stommeln, by Pulheim (or from that vicinity, and were probably also married there.) In German records, the name is found spelled Brücken or Brüggen. Christian immigrated without his wife (presumably deceased in Prussia) to America with his son Wilhelm and family. The Brüggen family left the parish for North America 28 September 1857. It is known that Christian died in the vicinity of Saint Mary's Ridge and is buried in the cemetery (there is no individual marker).
