According to Earl Tolman, "The West Rockport We Love", Nathaniel and Catherine lived and farmed during their married life on the home place where he was born, the south side of Mt. Pleasant. When Catherine died, Wesley Leman Oxton purchased the farm and still owned it in 1988 at the age of 91.
