- "Notes from Robert Taylor" from George Moses
Ruth Bolter was from Limington at the time of her marriage.
She married Robert Mayall ( son of Johnny Mayall & Mary Shaw) on 29 Sept. 1809 in Limington, York Co. Maine. Robert Mayall was born 24 Jun 1776 in Lancashire, England. He died 18 Sept 1826 in Ohio. Robert Mayall's obituary is given in the 3 Oct. 1826 issue of Maine Baptist Hearld. Robert belonged to an English family of clothiers who had mills and carding machines in various Maine towns.
On 6 Nov. 1819 according to deed William Meserve of Standish and Mary, his wife, Robert Mayall of Lisbon (Maine) and Ruth, his wife, sold Samuel Boulter of Standish one-third part of 50 acres of the 100-acre lot # 95 in second division in Standish, it being part of the 50 acres Mary bought from Joseph Blake on 10 Nov. 1791.
From Robert B. Mayall, correspondent.
Robert Mayall had come to Maine from England with his first wife about 1800. After his first wife died in childbirth about 1805, Robert Mayall married Ruth Bolter. My principal source for most of the above is a book entitled "Early Families of Standish, Maine" by Albert J. Sears.
