BUTLER SERVICE SUNDAY
"The funeral service for Ovid Butler, former Postmaster at Hoisington,
will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 oclock from the Methodist Church in
Hoisington and internment will be in the Hoisington Cemetery. Rev. L.E.
Shankel will officiate and will be assisted by the Odd Fellows Lodge of
Hoisington. Mr. Butler's death occurred Thursday night at his home in
Brownell."

OVID BUTLER
"July 19.---Ovid Butler was born June 24, 1861 at Greenlake, Wisc., and
died at his home at Brownell July 16, at 8:30 P.M., of cancer at the age of 75
years and 22 days.
Mr. Butler's first wife passed away in Great Bend his former home, and leaving
five children, Mrs. Una Gilmore,Mrs. Ruth Brezzell, both of Wisconsin, Iris, of
College, Alaska, two sons, Chan of Calif., and Scott of Chicago.
On April 12, 1905, Mr. Butler was united in marriage to Mrs. Minnie Horner of
Great Bend, whom he leaves to mourn his loss, besides his five children. Mr.
and Mrs. Butler moved to Hoisington and made this their home for twentyfive
years.
For nine and one-half years, Mr. Butler was postmaster at the city post office
here, having begun to fail in health, Mr. and Mrs. Butler moved to Brownell two
and one-half years ago for his health, which continued to get worse until he
was called homeward Thursday evening.
Mr. Butler never complained anc remained conscious up until the last. He will
be greatly missed among his friends of whom he had many here and also
elsewhere.
Mr. Butler united withe the Methodist Church when a very young man and
continued to live by it all through his life.
Short funeral services were held at 6:30 P.M., at the home Friday evening at
Brownell conducted by Rev. Munsford, Pastor of the Methodist Church there and
hen the body was brought to Hoisington and taken to the home ofhis step-son,
Clarence Horner, until time for the funeral service which was held Sunday July
19, at 2:30 P.M., at the Methodist Church here conducted by Rev. L.E. Shankel
under the auspice of the Hoisington Lodge No. 373, I.O.O.F. Internment was in
Hoisington Cemetery.
