- Extract from Genealogical Notes on the Families of Daniel Lane 2d and Mary Griswold Lane:
Removed about 1815 in the direction of Ohio, but the route, sojourning places, and the end of the journey, are alike unknown. It is said that she died in January, 1871, - perhaps in Ohio. Neither place nor time of Her husband's death seems discoverable. It is not an easy task to follow a westward-moving family, - and that one a dividing and still westward-moving family, through unorganized towns in half-organized counties, as must be done, if it can be done at all, in tracing out the builders of new states, in the heroic half of this century. The scanty recollections of two very old men, sons of Abigail Lane, are genealogically invaluable; for they serve in some sort to bridge the gap in time and space between Wolcott and farther Ohio, and to preserve the connection of their diverging posterity with their mother's olden house.
