Notes	With her husband, Amos B. Peters, being active in church work, wascalled away from home much of his time, and the burden of the care ofthe home fell heavily upon the mother. In the spring of 1894, she withher husband and children, moved to near Cando, North Dakota, being thefirst members of the church of the Brethren to file on homestead landin that state. The Cando congregation, the first Church of theBrethren congregation in North Dakota, was organized in her home. HereSister Peters experienced the inconveniences and hardships of frontierlife. Their first meal on their homestead was cooked in a "Shack"seven by eight feet in size. Brother Peters was away from home muchof the time during the winter season, in immigration work, and hissuccess in bringing hundreds of settlers into North Dakota was due, ina very large measure, to the hearty, loyal support of Sister Peters.Many of these settlers, as well as many other prominent members of theBrotherhood, were welcomed into her home. In the spring of 1903, she,with her family, moved westward - this time to build a home onunimproved sagebursh land near Wenatchee, Washington. Here much of herexperience of North Dakota was repeated. Many of her North Dakotavisitors were again welcomed into her home.
